WA CCTV Rebate: Put Your Shop Entrance and Counter in View

Planning cameras for your shop or customer-facing premises? The WA CCTV rebate can contribute up to $2,000 towards a qualifying internal system, with approval required before installation.

A useful upgrade starts with the right quote

Your entrance is where the customer journey starts. We can help you plan useful camera coverage there and at the counter, then prepare a clear CCTV scope for the rebate process.

Start your CCTV quote enquiry or call (08) 6326 0716. Check the official application status before committing to work; do not install until the SBDC sends formal pre-approval.

Choose the view at the door before choosing the camera

Stand inside your premises and look towards the customer entrance. Bright glass doors, deep shadows, signs and shelving can make that view difficult. Tell the installer whether you need to see the arrival of a visitor, activity at a counter or the route between the two.

The SBDC specification calls for hard-wired internal cameras and coverage of the customer entrance and point of sale. Do not assume a distant general view will show both clearly. The layout may call for separate viewpoints; the number and position of cameras should follow the premises assessment.

A doorway that opens into a shared lobby needs careful scoping. Identify what belongs to your tenancy and obtain the required property-owner or agent consent before applying. Avoid private neighbouring areas in the view and ask about signage at each entrance.

See our camera integration service for entry-point planning. If doors, gates or user credentials also need attention, the access planning guide helps you describe that separate part of the work.

How much could you receive?

The rebate is up to 50% of eligible installation costs excluding GST, with a maximum payment of $2,000. It is a reimbursement after approved work is completed and paid for. These examples explain the calculation; they are not installation prices or funding offers.

Check your business eligibility before spending

The SBDC CCTV rebate is for WA retail or customer-facing businesses operating from a physical storefront or service location. It is not a general residential CCTV grant. Read the full terms before relying on funding.

  • Fewer than 20 employees by headcount, including full-time, part-time and casual staff. Business owners, non-executive directors and contractors are excluded from that count.
  • An operating business with an active ABN and GST registration shown on its ABR record.
  • No insolvency, administration or strike-off; the stated bankruptcy and unresolved grant-acquittal exclusions also apply. A subsidiary of a group with 20 or more employees is excluded.
  • A complete application submitted in Australia by a responsible person directly linked to the business. Suppliers and other third parties cannot submit it for you.
  • One application per retail/customer-facing property. If you lease, include written permission from the owner or property agent.

What the CCTV quote needs to show

Quotes must be dated after 6 October 2026 and describe the proposed internal system. The SBDC recommends obtaining two or three quotes. Include the full name and licence number of the security installer, agent or consultant preparing the quote. Installation must be carried out by a current Class 2 Security Installer through a business holding the required Security Agent licence.

  • Hard-wired internal cameras, with coverage of the customer entrance and point of sale.
  • At least 5 megapixels on every camera and a recording device with at least a 3 TB hard drive.
  • Infrared or low-light recording capability, with the time and date displayed on recorded footage.
  • Export of recorded video in a standard format through portable storage, such as USB.
  • An itemised scope identifying equipment and installation work, with other upgrades separated for assessment.

Keep door control and camera funding clear

A camera can record activity at an entrance; a lock or reader controls access. The rebate is for the qualifying internal CCTV system. A new lock, intercom, gate motor or access reader should not be presented as eligible just because it is installed near a camera.

Ask for a quote that separates the camera work from those other improvements. Record the selected camera models, proposed views, recording hardware, installation work and licence details. This helps you compare quotes and gives the assessor a clear scope.

If you are enquiring about a private home, we can still discuss CCTV and entry security. This particular small-business rebate is not a general grant for household cameras. Check the official criteria before treating any location as eligible.

Prepare a view of the premises

Photos of the frontage, customer entrance and payment area help explain the work. Send images that show the layout without exposing sensitive customer information.

Get approved first, then install and claim

At our check on 25 October 2026, the application portal linked by the SBDC was accepting submissions. The SBDC assesses complete applications in submission order and closes the round when the funding target is reached. Funding is limited: 75% is allocated to metropolitan applicants and 25% to regional applicants. A quote or enquiry with us does not reserve funding.

Application sequence. The business submits its own application.
  1. Check eligibility, obtain the quote and any landlord consent.
  2. Submit the complete pre-approval application with premises details and a current frontage photo.
  3. Wait for the formal SBDC pre-approval email before installation.
  4. Install and pay within 60 days of pre-approval; retain the itemised tax invoice and payment evidence.
  5. Register the CCTV system with WA Police Cam-Map, then submit completion evidence within 14 days of installation.

  • Use the exact document formats requested in the application; where PDFs are required, photographs of documents are not substitutes.
  • Keep the Cam-Map confirmation and follow the instructions in your pre-approval email.
  • Maintain the system and retain the required records for 12 months after payment. Funding remains subject to SBDC assessment and the program terms.
