Retrofit or Replace?

An upgrade does not always mean replacing every component, but compatibility and condition must be checked first.

Inspect the door itself

A reader cannot compensate for a door that does not close or latch consistently. Review closers, alignment, frame condition and lock operation alongside the access electronics.

Identify the existing equipment

Record controller, reader and power-supply model numbers. Existing cards and cabling may have limits that are not visible from the front of the reader.

Plan a controlled transition

Agree installation windows, temporary access, staff communications and the order doors will change over. Confirm the release and exit arrangements for each opening before handover.

Your planning checklist

  • Photos and model numbers
  • Daily operating issues
  • Door and frame condition
  • Changeover constraints

Start with the existing opening

Before choosing replacement electronics, record the door, frame, lock, reader and controller details. The service for assessing an access-control upgrade connects those observations to a proposed retrofit scope and a workable changeover.
