Cards, Mobile or Biometrics?

The most useful credential is one your people can reliably use and your business can manage responsibly.

Illustrative mobile access equipment

Cards and fobs

A separate physical credential can suit shared devices, employees without a work phone and workplaces wanting a clear issue-and-return process. Lost items need prompt revocation.

Mobile access

Supported mobile options can reduce the need to carry a separate card. Check reader and device compatibility, user setup, any optional service fees and the alternative when a phone is unavailable.

Face and fingerprint

Treat these as separate, hardware-dependent capabilities. Face access is supported by selected equipment; fingerprint workflows may require a separate integration. Consider enrolment, privacy, consent and a non-biometric alternative before making a choice.

Your planning checklist

  • Staff device availability
  • Lost-credential procedure
  • Accessibility and alternative entry
  • Ongoing administration

Match the credential to the entry journey

When comparing a card, phone or biometric option, also plan managing staff access credentials for the selected door system. Consider enrolment, a lost credential and an alternative way to enter; a convenient method still needs compatible hardware.
